Information

  • Ramon Dominguez comes from a proud, traditional coffee-growing family. At its peak, his father’s farm produced over 2,000 bags of coffee—a testament to their dedication and hard work. However, after his father’s passing, the challenges of managing the farm grew. The spread of Roya (coffee leaf rust) and fluctuating global coffee prices painted a grim picture for the family business.

In 2015, Ramon’s son reignited hope by deciding to revive the family farm, La Chatera, nestled in the village of El Planon. Fuelled by their deep passion for coffee and an unwavering love for the land, they embarked on a journey to breathe new life into their legacy.

They started by cultivating a small amount of specialty coffee alongside the diverse produce already thriving on the farm, including plantains, avocados, oranges, bananas, and more. This coffee is a testament to the unwavering hard work and dedication of this father-son duo, as they strive to continue and honor their family’s rich coffee-growing legacy.

Today, their sights are set on continuously improving quality with the hope of securing a long-term buyer for their coffee production. In the meantime, they are focused on short-term goals, such as constructing larger solar dryers and expanding their farm by planting more coffee trees, all while staying true to their vision of building a sustainable future for their family’s legacy.
